Say Goodbye to Sliding Dentures
Suffering from tooth loss can have a major impact on not only your oral health but your self-esteem too. Luckily, we have restorative options that will give patients a complete, healthy smile once again. For patients missing a majority of their teeth, we feature implant-supported dentures.
Unlike traditional dentures that slip and slide around in your mouth, implant-supported dentures are a more stable, comfortable solution for tooth loss. Implant-supported dentures are secured in place using dental implants in the jaw. This solution doesn’t require adhesives so your dentures will stay in place while you eat and speak.
At your consultation with Dr. Klym, we’ll determine your treatment plan. You have the decision between fixed dentures, which permanently stay in, or “snap-on” dentures, which offer the stability of implants that can be removed for your convenience.
Implant-Supported Denture Benefits
The implant-supported denture has become a more preferred tooth replacement option for patients missing a majority of their teeth. They come with a variety of benefits, including:
- No more adhesives
- Allows you to eat your favorite foods
- Speak with confidence
- Enjoy a more comfortable, customized fit
- No more sliding from your dentures
- Cost-effective
Securing Your Implant-Supported Dentures
After your initial consultation with Dr. Klym, we’ll begin your treatment by placing your implants. We’ll utilize four to six dental implants and they’ll be fastened into your jawbone so they can properly bond together.
From there, you’ll then have a temporary denture placed while you go through a three to six-month healing period. This allows a substantial amount of time for the implants to fuse to your jawbone.
At your next appointment, Dr. Klym will place the abutments, which help connect the implants to your denture piece. Once we ensure that your dentures properly fit onto your implants, we’ll permanently secure them in place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the dental implant process painful?
Thanks to IV dental sedation, you will experience no pain or stress during your dental implant surgery. You will awaken with all pain numbed away by local anesthetic and no memory of the procedure. Visit our Sedation Dentistry page to learn more about the benefits.
During your recovery period, you will be able to manage any pain or discomfort with over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication. Dr. Klym will discuss alternative pain management options with you if a health condition makes these medicines unsafe for you.
What are the benefits of implant-supported dentures compared to traditional dentures?
Your implant-supported dentures will look and feel like natural teeth, without the awkwardness or discomfort of traditional dentures. Instead of removing your replacements to clean them, you’ll care for your restorations with regular brushing and flossing. You’ll be able to smile freely, without relying on adhesives to keep your teeth firmly in place.
Traditional dentures can cause wear on the jawbone, leading to tender spots on the gums and reducing bone density. Dental implants will actually strengthen the jawbone and promote healthy growth, never shifting or rubbing against the soft tissue of your mouth.
How does pricing for implant-supported dentures compare to replacing individual teeth?
Implant-supported dentures are a much more cost-efficient option when compared to replacing a full arch of teeth with individual implants. The surgery requires fewer total implants and less time for a successful procedure. When your treatment is complete, your new teeth will stay aligned with no concern for individual teeth shifting over time.
Implant-supported dentures are a permanent solution to missing teeth that can last a lifetime with proper care. We accept most forms of dental insurance and will work with you to make a financing plan that fits your needs and budget.
